Dumpling-Making & Shared Wellbeing Workshop
Why Cooking Together Brings Us Closer
Why Cooking Together Brings Us Closer
Food is more than nourishment. Across cultures, preparing and sharing a meal has always been a natural way to bring people together.
At the Finnish Happiness Academy, we chose dumpling-making because it combines food, culture, creativity and human connection. Participants prepare, fold and enjoy dumplings together in a relaxed environment.
Dumplings give our hands something to do while giving our conversations room to grow.
As people roll dough, prepare fillings, learn from one another and laugh over imperfect dumplings, the atmosphere begins to change. The kitchen becomes a place for stories, curiosity and connection.
Why Did We Choose Dumpling-Making?
Dumplings can be found in many forms across cultures around the world. Ingredients, shapes and traditions may differ, but the idea is remarkably similar: people gather around food and create something together.
We sometimes call this “dumpling diplomacy.”
When people do not share the same language, background, profession or life experience, food can provide another way to connect. You do not need perfect words to show someone how to fold dough, share an ingredient, taste something new or laugh when a dumpling does not quite turn out as planned.
Making dumplings also encourages teamwork without feeling like a formal team-building exercise. Participants naturally help one another, exchange food stories and learn from each other.
“Instead of asking people to build connection, we give them something meaningful to create together.”
The Surprising Things Dumplings Can Reveal
There is something playful about watching how differently people make dumplings.
Some carefully create every dumpling in exactly the same shape. Some add far too much filling. Some work quickly, while others watch for a while before making their first one. And some forget the traditional shapes completely and start creating their own.
There is no scientific personality test hidden inside a dumpling, of course. But these differences can become a light-hearted way to notice how differently we approach creativity, patience, perfection, experimentation and collaboration.
Most importantly, there is no perfect dumpling required.
The experience is about participating, learning and enjoying the process.
More Than a Cooking Workshop
Participants learn practical dumpling-making skills, including preparing fillings, folding techniques and exploring different flavour combinations.
But the experience goes beyond cooking.
Modern life gives us extraordinary convenience. Meals can arrive ready-made, communication happens instantly and much of our daily life is designed to save time. Yet some activities that take time also give us something increasingly valuable: the opportunity to slow down and be present with other people.
Dumplings are wonderfully inefficient.
They require hands.
They require patience.
And they are much more enjoyable when made together.
We also briefly explore how nourishing food and everyday lifestyle choices can support wellbeing, including wellbeing during menopause.
Come to the Table
At the Finnish Happiness Academy, we believe some of the most meaningful experiences do not need to be complicated.
A table.
Fresh ingredients.
A group of people.
And enough time to cook, talk, laugh and eat together.
Our Dumpling-Making & Shared Wellbeing Workshop brings these simple elements together to create an experience where food becomes a bridge between people and cultures.
Sometimes connection does not begin with a meeting, presentation or formal exercise.
Sometimes it begins with a small piece of dough passed across a table.
Join one of our workshops and discover what can happen when we slow down, cook together and make room for genuine connection.
Food, Fitness & Brain Health: Reducing the Risk of Alzheimer’s
Everyday Habits for a Healthier Brain
Everyday Habits for a Healthier Brain
Brain health is influenced by many parts of everyday life. The way we eat, move, sleep, manage stress, connect with others and continue learning can all contribute to healthy ageing.
Our Food, Fitness & Brain Health Workshop is designed for adults in midlife, teams and communities interested in supporting memory, cognitive resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Rather than promising that lifestyle choices can prevent Alzheimer’s disease, the workshop focuses on modifiable dementia risk—the areas of health and lifestyle that we may be able to influence.
Why Did We Choose Food, Fitness & Brain Health?
Food is an important part of brain health. Participants explore practical principles from Mediterranean and MIND-style eating, including vegetables, berries and other fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and healthy fats.
We also discuss fermented foods and drinks such as kefir and kombucha, including their connection with gut health and the growing scientific interest in the relationship between the gut and brain. They are explored as part of a balanced diet, rather than as treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
Alongside nutrition, the workshop looks at physical activity, quality sleep, stress management, social connection and lifelong learning as interconnected parts of a brain-supportive lifestyle.
From Knowledge to Everyday Action
The workshop is practical rather than simply informational.
Participants consider small changes that can realistically become part of everyday life. This might mean improving meals, walking more regularly, developing a better sleep routine, maintaining meaningful relationships or continuing to learn new skills.
The approach reflects the Finnish Happiness Academy’s wider philosophy of turning simple everyday activities into opportunities for wellbeing, learning and connection.
What Will You Take Away?
Each participant develops a personal Brain Health Action Plan with realistic steps they can begin straight away.
The message is simple: there is no single food, exercise or routine that guarantees protection from Alzheimer’s disease. Instead, brain health can be supported through a combination of sustainable everyday habits.
Start Building Your Brain Health Plan
At the Finnish Happiness Academy, we believe wellbeing becomes more meaningful when knowledge can be turned into everyday action. That practical, participatory approach also runs through our other workshops, where simple activities become opportunities for learning, connection and wellbeing.
A nourishing meal.
Regular movement.
Restful sleep.
Meaningful relationships.
Curiosity that continues throughout life.
Individually, these may seem like ordinary things. Together, they can form part of a lifestyle that supports both present wellbeing and healthier ageing.
Mindful Tea & Leadership Reflection
What if Better Leadership Began with a Moment of Stillness?
What if Better Leadership Began with a Moment of Stillness?
Leadership often means making decisions, solving problems and guiding others. In a busy working environment, however, there are few opportunities to stop and reflect on how we communicate, respond and influence the people around us.
Our Mindful Tea & Leadership Reflection Workshop creates that opportunity through a simple shared tea experience.
Why Did We Choose Mindful Tea?
Tea has been shared across cultures as a ritual of hospitality and gathering. Preparing and drinking it together creates a setting that feels very different from a formal meeting or training room.
We chose tea because its natural rhythm encourages participants to step out of their usual routines. Attention moves towards the aroma, warmth, flavour and people around the table, creating a natural starting point for leadership reflection.
What Can Tea Teach Us About Leadership?
During the experience, participants consider how they show up in conversations and relationships.
Do we immediately offer solutions? Do we make assumptions? Do quieter people have an opportunity to contribute? How does our behaviour affect the atmosphere of a team?
The workshop explores leadership through self-awareness, curiosity and thoughtful communication , rather than through another presentation or lecture.
Participants are also encouraged to consider small practices they can take back to everyday work—from handling difficult conversations more thoughtfully to creating team environments where different perspectives are welcomed.
Leadership is not only about what we say. It is also about how we listen, respond and create space for others.
A Cup of Tea, a Different Conversation
At the Finnish Happiness Academy, we believe meaningful development does not always require complicated exercises.
Sometimes we need something much simpler.
A table.
A warm cup of tea.
A few people.
A little less rushing.
And enough time to listen.
Our Mindful Tea & Leadership Reflection Workshop creates that space, helping teams and leaders step away from the speed of everyday work and explore presence, listening, reflection and human connection in a practical and memorable way.
You may arrive expecting to learn something about tea.
You may leave thinking differently about the way you listen, communicate and lead.
Join our Mindful Tea & Leadership Reflection Workshop and discover what can happen when leadership begins not with another instruction, but with a moment of stillness.
Nordic Herbal Wellbeing
What if Your Next Meal Began with a Walk Through the Forest?
What if Your Next Meal Began with a Walk Through the Forest?
Finland’s forests offer more than beautiful scenery. Throughout the seasons, they provide wild herbs and edible plants that can introduce new flavours while helping us understand where food comes from.
Our Nordic Herbal Wellbeing Workshop combines a guided nature experience with practical learning about Finnish wild herbs, responsible foraging and seasonal food.
Why Did We Choose Nordic Herbal Wellbeing?
Many of us buy food without thinking about where it grows or how it reaches our plate. Foraging offers a different experience.
Participants learn to recognise selected edible wild herbs, understand safe and responsible harvesting, and explore ways seasonal ingredients can be used in food.
The workshop also encourages respect for nature. Rather than simply collecting plants, participants learn why responsible harvesting matters and how we can enjoy natural resources without damaging the environment.
Foraging is not simply about finding ingredients. It is also about learning how to notice, understand and respect the natural environment around us.
From Forest to Food
After exploring the natural surroundings, participants discover how wild ingredients can become part of simple, nourishing meals.
It turns an ordinary walk into an opportunity to learn, taste something new and experience Finnish nature in a hands-on way.
Discover the Flavours of Finnish Nature
You do not need previous knowledge of wild herbs to participate—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
Book our Nordic Herbal Wellbeing Workshop and discover Finnish nature in a new way—from recognising what grows around you to experiencing seasonal flavours from forest to table.
Nordic Forest Escape Game
Can a Game Change the Way We Think About Everyday Choices?
Can a Game Change the Way We Think About Everyday Choices?
Environmental issues such as microplastics and responsible consumption can sometimes feel distant or difficult to understand.
Our Nordic Forest Escape Game turns these topics into an outdoor adventure where participants learn through teamwork, discovery and problem-solving.
Why Did We Choose a Forest Escape Game?
We chose a game-based experience because learning can become more memorable when people actively participate.
Teams follow clues, solve challenges and make decisions together while exploring the forest. Along the way, they discover connections between everyday consumption, plastic use, microplastics and the environment.
Rather than simply being told about these issues, participants encounter them through challenges that encourage discussion and curiosity.
Adventure, Teamwork and Awareness
The game requires participants to communicate, share ideas and use different strengths to move forward.
At the same time, the environmental theme encourages everyone to think about how small everyday choices can contribute to larger impacts.
It combines team building with environmental awareness in a playful outdoor setting.
Take Your Team Into the Forest
A team-building experience can be fun while still giving people something meaningful to think about afterwards.
Book our Nordic Forest Escape Game and bring your team outdoors for an adventure filled with clues, collaboration and discoveries that may change the way you look at everyday choices.
Happy Drops – Essential Oil Therapy
Why Can One Familiar Scent Change the Way a Moment Feels?
Why Can One Familiar Scent Change the Way a Moment Feels?
A familiar scent can bring back a memory, change the atmosphere of a room or simply encourage us to notice the present moment.
Our Happy Drops – Essential Oil Therapy Workshop is a sensory Nature Power journey that introduces participants to essential oils through guided aroma experiences and simple wellbeing rituals.
Rather than focusing only on information, the workshop invites people to experience different aromas and explore practical ways scent can become part of everyday moments of relaxation and self-care.
Why Did We Choose Essential Oils?
Smell is a powerful part of how we experience our surroundings. Yet in busy everyday life, we rarely stop to pay attention to it.
We chose essential oils because they provide a simple way to create a sensory connection with plants and nature. During the workshop, participants explore selected aromas, learn about their botanical origins and discover different ways essential oils can be incorporated into personal wellbeing routines.
The experience also encourages something that is often missing from a busy day: a moment to slow down and pay attention to the senses.
Discovering Aroma Through Experience
Instead of simply talking about essential oils, participants experience them.
Through guided aroma activities, they can compare different scents, notice their personal responses and explore how aroma can influence the feeling of a particular space or moment.
Participants also learn simple and responsible ways to use essential oils in everyday rituals—for example, creating a calming atmosphere at home or adding a sensory element to moments of rest and reflection.
The aim is not to present essential oils as medical treatments, but to explore how aroma, nature and mindful sensory experiences can complement everyday wellbeing.
Bring a Little Nature Into Everyday Life
Wellbeing does not always require a major change. Sometimes it can begin with a small ritual that reminds us to slow down and reconnect with our surroundings.
Our Happy Drops – Essential Oil Therapy Workshop offers an opportunity to explore the world of natural aromas in an enjoyable, practical and sensory way.
Book our Happy Drops – Essential Oil Therapy Workshop and discover how simple aromas and nature-inspired rituals can bring a new sensory dimension to moments of relaxation and everyday wellbeing.
Beeswax Wraps: Sustainable Living by Making
What if a Small Handmade Change Could Reshape an Everyday Habit?
What if a Small Handmade Change Could Reshape an Everyday Habit?
Sustainability can sometimes feel like a big and complicated topic. But meaningful change can also begin with something small—especially when we experience it through our own hands.
Our Beeswax Wraps: Sustainable Living by Making Workshop turns sustainability into a practical activity. Participants create reusable beeswax wraps while exploring how simple alternatives can help us rethink everyday habits and reduce reliance on disposable products.
Why Did We Choose Beeswax Wraps?
We chose beeswax wraps because they connect an environmental idea with something people can make, use and take home.
Instead of only discussing waste and responsible consumption, participants experience a practical alternative to disposable food wrap.
The process encourages us to look at familiar household habits and consider where small, realistic changes may be possible.
Making something by hand also creates a different relationship with the finished object. A reusable wrap is no longer just another product—it becomes something you created yourself and can continue using afterwards.
From Making to Everyday Action
During the workshop, participants learn how beeswax wraps are made and explore ways they can be used for suitable everyday food-storage needs.
The activity creates space for creativity, conversation and shared learning while introducing a simple principle: sustainable living becomes more achievable when ideas can be translated into practical actions.
Participants leave not only with new knowledge, but also with something useful they have made themselves— a small reminder that everyday choices can be reconsidered one habit at a time.
A small handmade object can become a practical reminder that sustainability is something we can practise, not simply discuss.
Make Sustainability Something You Can Take Home
Sustainability does not always have to begin with a dramatic lifestyle change. Sometimes it begins by making one useful thing differently.
Our Beeswax Wraps: Sustainable Living by Making Workshop combines creativity, practical learning and environmental awareness in an accessible hands-on experience.
Book our Beeswax Wraps Workshop and discover how making one simple reusable item can inspire new ways of thinking about the things we use, reuse and choose every day.
Leadership Through Conducting
What Can a Conductor Teach Us About Leading People?
What Can a Conductor Teach Us About Leading People?
Leadership is often discussed through strategies, frameworks and presentations. But sometimes we can understand leadership differently by watching what happens when one person stands in front of a group of musicians.
A conductor does not produce every sound. Instead, they help a group of individuals respond together through presence, clarity, timing, listening and trust.
Our Leadership Through Conducting Workshop uses music and conducting as an experiential way to explore how leadership influences the energy and response of a group.
Why Did We Choose Conducting?
We chose conducting because it makes leadership visible.
A conductor may communicate direction through a small movement, a pause, eye contact or a change in energy. If the message is unclear, the group may respond differently than expected.
When communication is clear and people are attentive to one another, individual contributions can become part of something coordinated.
This creates an interesting question for leaders: Are people responding only to what we say, or also to how we communicate it?
Conducting provides a practical way to explore this without relying on another presentation or traditional leadership exercise.
From Music to Leadership
During the workshop, participants explore leadership through conducting-inspired activities and reflection.
Participants consider how clarity affects direction, timing influences response, and listening gives people space to contribute their strengths.
Like an orchestra, a team contains different people, perspectives and abilities. Effective leadership does not require everyone to become the same.
The challenge is creating enough shared direction for those differences to work together.
Participants can then reflect on how these observations connect with their own teams, communication and everyday leadership situations.
Great leadership is not only about giving direction. It is also about knowing when to listen, when to create space and when to trust others to contribute.
Find Your Leadership Rhythm
Great leadership is not simply about giving more instructions. It can also involve knowing when to guide, when to listen, when to create space and when to trust others to contribute.
Our Leadership Through Conducting Workshop transforms these ideas into a memorable experience through music, movement and participation.
Book our Leadership Through Conducting Workshop and discover what happens when leadership moves beyond words—and becomes something you can see, hear and experience.
DJ Team Flow: Create Your Happy Song
Can Creating Music Together Change the Way a Team Connects?
Can Creating Music Together Change the Way a Team Connects?
Teams often work together through meetings, plans and structured tasks. But creativity can reveal a completely different side of how people communicate and collaborate.
Our DJ Team Flow: Create Your Happy Song Workshop invites participants to step into the world of DJing, explore how music is created and work together through rhythm, experimentation and shared decision-making.
No previous DJ or musical experience is needed. The focus is on participation, creativity and finding a shared flow as a team.
Why Did We Choose DJing?
We chose DJing because it combines individual creativity with the need to pay attention to what others are doing.
Participants discover how DJ equipment works, experiment with sounds and rhythms, and experience some of the choices and challenges DJs face when creating music.
There is rarely only one correct answer. Someone may hear a transition differently, suggest another rhythm or introduce an unexpected idea.
The group has to listen, adapt, experiment and make decisions together.
That makes DJing an unusual but practical way to explore teamwork.
From Individual Ideas to Team Flow
As participants begin creating their happy song, individual ideas gradually become part of something shared.
The experience encourages people to communicate, try unfamiliar roles and build on one another's ideas. Mistakes can become part of the creative process rather than something to avoid.
This is where the idea of team flow becomes interesting. When people are engaged, listening and contributing towards the same goal, collaboration can begin to feel more natural.
The finished song matters—but so does the process of creating it together.
Team flow happens when individual ideas begin to move towards one shared creative direction.
Create Your Team's Happy Song
A memorable team experience does not always need another meeting or presentation. Sometimes people need an opportunity to experiment, laugh and create something together.
Our DJ Team Flow: Create Your Happy Song Workshop combines music, creativity and collaboration in a hands-on experience your team can share.
Book the DJ Team Flow Workshop and discover what happens when your team stops talking about collaboration for a moment—and starts creating something together.
Deep Listening & Sound Bath
When Was the Last Time You Truly Listened?
When Was the Last Time You Truly Listened?
Everyday life is filled with sound—conversations, notifications, traffic, music and constant digital distractions. Even when we stop moving, our attention may still be busy moving from one thing to another.
Our Deep Listening & Sound Bath Workshop creates a different kind of experience. Through layered sounds, guided listening, stillness and reflection, participants are invited to slow down, notice what they hear and reconnect with the present moment.
The workshop is not about performing or understanding music. It is about experiencing sound with greater attention and allowing time for quiet reflection.
Why Did We Choose Deep Listening?
Listening is something we do every day, but truly giving something our full attention can be surprisingly difficult.
We chose deep listening because it provides a simple way to step away from constant stimulation.
During the workshop, participants experience different tones and sound textures while being encouraged to notice subtle changes in sound, silence and their own attention.
Instead of trying to achieve something, participants are given permission simply to listen, pause and be present.
From Sound to Stillness
During the sound bath, participants settle into a comfortable position while different sounds are gradually introduced. Singing bowls, resonant tones and periods of silence create an immersive listening environment.
As the experience unfolds, attention can move away from everyday distractions and towards the sounds occurring in the moment.
The session also includes time for reflection, giving participants an opportunity to notice how the experience affected their attention, sense of stillness and awareness of their surroundings.
It is a simple reminder that sometimes restoration begins not by adding another activity to our day, but by creating space for fewer distractions.
Sometimes restoration begins not by doing more, but by creating enough space to truly listen.
Make Space to Listen
In a world that constantly asks for our attention, choosing to stop and listen can become a meaningful experience in itself.
Our Deep Listening & Sound Bath Workshop offers individuals, teams and groups an opportunity to step away from everyday noise and experience sound, stillness and reflection together.
Book our Deep Listening & Sound Bath Workshop and discover what can happen when the noise becomes quieter, attention slows down and you give yourself time simply to listen.
